Tennessee weighed ending water fluoridation, but the Fluoride-Free Water Act died when session ended
Several Tennessee bills to stop adding fluoride to public water, or to disclose what is in it, did not pass in the 2025-2026 session. Bills recognizing gold and silver as legal tender and limiting programmable money also stalled. A law barring public schools from requiring preferred pronouns was signed in 2025.

Disclose fluoride in public water
Requires utility systems selling water that contains fluoride to obtain a certificate of analysis and post it, along with the fluoride safety data sheet, online.
Families deserve clear information about what is added to their drinking water.
Recognize gold and silver as money
Enacts the Tennessee Transactional Gold and Silver Act, recognizing gold and silver as legal tender for private transactions and, when accepted, for state and local taxes and fees. It authorizes a bullion depository and payment system and exempts these transactions from state and local taxes.
Sound money gives families a way to protect their savings outside the control of central planners.
Protect people from programmable money
Prohibits requiring anyone to use programmable money for a transaction and bars issuers from denying transactions based on certain factors. Denials must be explained on request, and violations fall under the Consumer Protection Act.
No one should have their purchases controlled or blocked by programmable currency.
End fluoride in Tennessee drinking water
Enacts the Tennessee Fluoride-Free Water Act, prohibiting public water systems from adding fluoride and banning sales of bottled water with added fluoride. It also requires action when naturally occurring fluoride exceeds certain levels.
People should choose for themselves whether to consume fluoride rather than having it added to everyone's water.
Ban administering mRNA vaccines
Enacts the Tennessee mRNA Pharmaceutical Sovereignty and Safety Act, which prohibits anyone, including health care and veterinary providers, from administering a vaccine or injectable containing mRNA vaccine material.
CODR is watching this bill because it responds to safety concerns about mRNA products but does so with an outright ban rather than informed choice.
No compelled pronouns in public schools
Prohibits public schools, school districts, and their employees or contractors from requiring students or staff to provide their preferred pronouns.
Government should never compel people to speak against their beliefs.
