Ohio
Ohio is our first partner state. We stand with Ohio Advocates for Medical Freedom.
Ohio has some of the strongest medical-freedom bills in the country moving through the 136th General Assembly: the right to refuse medical interventions for reasons of conscience, clearer vaccine exemptions for Ohio families, and a state Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
These bills are sitting in committee. Committee chairs decide whether a bill ever gets a vote, and they listen when constituents write in. Pick a bill below and send your legislators a letter.
No upcoming Ohio events listed yet. We add rallies, public hearings, board meetings and other ways to show up as we find them. Know of one? Tell us.

HB 952 would write religious-freedom protection into Ohio law, so the state must have a compelling reason, and use the least restrictive means, before it burdens anyone's free exercise of religion.
Regulate certified and licensed midwives
Would regulate the practice of certified and licensed midwives. Similar bills also address freestanding birth centers.
CODR is watching how these rules would affect families' access to home birth and midwives.
Let home cooks sell to neighbors
Would authorize the sale of certain homemade foods under a microenterprise home kitchen operation registration. Passed the House.
Home cooks should be able to sell safe homemade food without costly commercial kitchens.
Clear vaccine exemptions for Ohio families
The C.H.O.I.C.E. Act revises Ohio's law on childhood immunizations and exemptions for schools and child care, so parents get clear information about their options, including exemptions for reasons of conscience.
Require parental consent for minors’ counseling
Would prohibit providing mental health services to minors without parental consent.
Parents, not the state, should make decisions about their children's care.
Allow farm-to-consumer raw milk sales
Would regulate the sale of raw milk and name the act the Farm-to-Consumer Access to Raw Milk Act. In the House Agriculture Committee.
Families should be free to buy raw milk directly from farmers they trust.
Individualized investigational treatments
SB 170 would let patients with life-threatening or severely debilitating illnesses access individualized investigational treatments. We are watching this bill.
End water fluoridation
Would prohibit a public water system from adding fluoride to its water.
People should decide for themselves what goes into their bodies, not have it added to the public water supply.
Protect the right to refuse
The Conscientious Right to Refuse Act would make it illegal to discriminate against Ohioans who refuse certain medical interventions for reasons of conscience, including religious convictions. No one should lose a job, a service or a place in school because of a private medical decision.
Expand patients’ right to try
Would enact the Jeff, Dave, and Angie Patient Right to Try Act regarding prescribing, dispensing, and administering drugs.
Patients and their doctors should be free to choose treatments together.
