Informed Parents, Healthy Schools Act
Would add new sections to the Health and Safety Code relating to immunizations. Held in committee in August 2026.
The description does not show whether it expands or limits parents' choices, so CODR is watching it.
New restrictions on keeping roosters
Would add a new chapter to the Health and Safety Code placing restrictions on roosters. Held in committee in August 2026.
Families should be free to keep backyard flocks without new state restrictions.
Rules for immunization medical exemptions
Would change state law on immunizations and medical exemptions, including the sections that govern school immunization exemptions. Failed passage in the Senate committee in April 2026.
Medical exemptions protect children who cannot safely be vaccinated, so CODR watches every change to them closely.
Microenterprise home kitchen rules
Would amend the California Retail Food Code section on microenterprise home kitchen operations. Re-referred to the Health committee in March 2026.
Home kitchens are a key path for families to earn income from food, so CODR is watching how the rules change.
Train more midwives
Enacts the Midwifery Workforce Training Act in the Health and Safety Code, relating to maternal care.
Families should have real access to midwives and the birth setting they choose.
