Kentucky bill to restore religious liberty protections was filed but never left committee
Kentucky enacted one food freedom win in 2026, letting home-based processors make tallow-based cosmetics. Bills to strengthen religious liberty protections, make water fluoridation optional, ban geoengineering, allow backyard chickens, recognize gold and silver as legal tender, and protect patients' choice of blood donor all died when the session ended.
No upcoming Kentucky events listed yet. We add rallies, public hearings, board meetings and other ways to show up as we find them. Know of one? Tell us.
Let home processors make tallow cosmetics
Adds tallow-based cosmetic products to the definition of home-based processor products.
Small home producers should be free to make and sell traditional goods.
Let patients choose their blood donor
Establishes an individual's right to select a willing blood donor, including directed and autologous donations. It also protects physicians who facilitate those donations.
Patients should have a say in what goes into their own bodies.
Ban geoengineering
Makes criminal atmospheric pollution a Class D felony with a civil penalty of at least $500,000, and empowers peace officers to enforce the prohibition.
Families should not be subjected to deliberate atmospheric interventions without their knowledge or consent.
Make water fluoridation optional
Makes water fluoridation programs optional and lets the governing bodies of water systems decide whether to participate.
Communities should be free to stop adding fluoride to the water their families drink.
Allow backyard chickens
Allows a person to keep six or fewer backyard chickens on residential property in cities and certain other local governments, and limits local regulatory authority.
Families should be free to raise some of their own food at home.
Make gold and silver legal tender
Recognizes gold and silver specie as legal tender and directs the State Treasurer to establish a bullion depository and electronic payment systems.
Families should have sound-money options outside government-managed currency.
Restore religious liberty protections
Defines terms and outlines relief when government substantially burdens a sincerely held religious belief. It applies to laws adopted before or after the effective date and waives sovereign immunity.
People of faith should be able to live by their convictions without undue government burden.
